The Hidden (from me) Gold Mine (online entrepreneur news)

If you know how to make money online, you may be missing a (possibly) hidden source of revenue.

Always good advice…

As online entrepreneurs, we tend to hire ourselves.  We spend fortunes on training and information and then use that information to make money.

Over time, we learn what works and what doesn’t work.  Because we’re so deeply immersed in what we’re doing, we miss the fact that most people don’t know how to do what we do.

This happened to me recently.  I was at what my parents would have called a “cocktail” party at a condo in Lajitas a few nights ago and I got into a conversation with a Real Estate investor who leaves nearby.

He told me that business owners in his area were paying up to $3,000 for a WordPress site.

Stop and let that sink in.  I almost dropped my glass of Malbec…

A while back, I sat at the local watering hole with my laptop computer and put up a dozen WordPress sites in a little over an hour while talking to some neighbors.  They’re still up and doing fine.

We know how easy it is.  When we get outside our bubble and into the real world, the knowledge we take for granted is actually very valuable.  It’s a hidden gold mine.

My other gold mines:  SEO, optimized copy, sales copy, video and audio production…  these are skills that I pretty much take for granted.  Most of my IM friends share them.  Out in the “real” world, taking a clumsy site and fixing it so that it dominates Google looks like something they’d teach at Hogwarts.

What other skills do you have that you may be taking for granted?

Now, you know that I would never recommend that you get a job.  I still think jobs are the least efficient way there is to make money.

But, a clear-cut agreement to do create magic for a client in return for fair compensation?  As long as it doesn’t take time or energy away from your main business, I think that’s fine.  And, if you’re doing Internet Marketing right, you should have a lot of spare time.

Even some of my beginning coaching clients are branching out- teaching courses, making web sites, doing SEO, writing…  it’s a great way to fund your entrepreneurial projects.

Make an inventory of your skills – it might help to talk with somebody who is outside the Internet Marketing/Make Money Online field – and then keep your eyes open for inefficiencies- like people paying $3K for WordPress sites, for example.
